DOTCOM Phase #3, Module 2 - Exploring REEL BAD ARABS

Hi Everybody!

I remember the football club of Manchester City, when i say Arab! because arabian millioner bought this club of little time ago and it was shown in each Television channel! I always watch sport news. Thats why i have known it.

1)THE THREE-PART BRAIN - In what ways do YOU think REEL BAD ARABS attracted your REPTILIAN (instinctual), FEELING (limbic) and THINKING (neo-cortex) brains?

This video inflainfluendce to my limbic andneocortex brain! i felt the beanty of arabian music. it impressed my limbic brain!

2)PRODUCTION

During the video i noticed the lambasting attitude of Hollywood against Arabs. I think Arabs are very thoughtful and tolerant, careful people!

3)PERSUASIVE TECHNIQUES

Symbol- i these films, Arabs were introduced as the symbol of terrorism.

Big lie- I think the thoughts of Hollywood are just big Lies! To make such negative stereotypes about the one typical nation of east are very strange

4) Suggestion

I think Togrul is right! I can't answer this question! because i like only watch TV( movie).

Effects
I like almost all persuasive techniques in the video. Especially i wally like the wonderful music voice.

DOTCOM Launches PHASE 3! - Module #1: Reflecting on DOTCOM, Phase 2

1)I didn't meet challenging! Every thinks was ok! I spend very very good time! Iwant go back to Vermont! Because I miss my host family and American teenagers! I can’t wait and I want meet you now!

2) I learnt about American culture and i improved my English! i made a lot of friends! This project it is very wonderfull. It was first for me! thats why i was exited when i met other student!

3) I went to Boston, party with my host family! it was very good time! Then we played American football! haha it was very crazy game! i loved it! i want play again! We played baseball too! it is very difficult game! we went to fishing too! I had fun!

4) i expect so much knowledge!

Day #5: Our First DOTCOM Reflection Assignment (For Monday, your "Day Off")

1) I guess it would be a lil bit hard to all Azerbaijani DOTCOMers to reply this question. Unfortunately we couldn't able to stay in Washington DC and missed amazing DC trip=(((
we still get disappointed when i think about that. So lets put it to the side. Because we are in gorgeous Vermont and having totally wonderful time.

2) Well, as I'm a curious and sociable person i always try to get acquainted with another ppl and get to know better. so when our project took start I also started to follow all my US partners blogs. So it really helped me to get information about them. So they seemed familiar to me when we met=)

3) Without challenges life would be uninteresting and boring. So i love challenge=) The most challenging part of dotcom is to live in new pesons in a new environment. Actually i loved it. so we can easily taste american foods, get information about their culture and of course we live as an american teenager.

4)First of all i always wanted to visit a country with English as a First language, and pratice and learn more. The exciting thing about coming to United States is that i can actully pratice my english. And spening 21 days in US with the host families are just great. i dont have a word to describe it! and make more friends in US.

Media-I'm very interested in media. And I learn the changes of media. And thats why I chosed the media. I think that it'll be very interesting!

Peace/War/Conflict-Sometimes when I see people's suffering in the wars I regret very much. I think that it'll be very interesting too!

Food/Agriculture-I think that this topic is very close to the war topic. In wars a lot of people die because of products. And that's why I chosed this topic.

90 seconds elevator pitch

Hi everybody. My name is Novruz, my last name is Mamishov.I was born in Kazakh in 1994. I went to Moscow in 1996. We are four in my family: My father, my mother, my sister and me. My sister is younger than me. I’m in the 9th grade. I'm very smart and polite. I like to make jokes and make friends. That's why i have a lot of friends. I love them. After school we play football. I spend a lot of time with them. I want to create friendships with American teenagers. Because I want to introduce our culture to them. I am also interested in their culture. . I love lyric music and rap. I read a lot. I like adventure books most of all. I like detective and historic books as well. They are very interesting. I like to work in groups and this project will be interesting for me. My one of the biggest wish is to become an engineer. Because my father is an engineer and I want to continue his way. I am very diligent, clever student. I am attentive boy. I like being in the centre of attention. I am loveable of teachers. I differ from other students as I am humanistic and delicate. I am very modest and energetic. Thank you for listening me!

Wrapping up Phase 1!

First of all I want to thank to DOTCOM staff. Thank you very much! I’m looking forward to go US and meet to Dr. W, Mrs. Elizabeth and of course our American friends.
Now it’s time to do module # 7 to get a good comment from Dr. W=)
A) Every module has a special place for me because every new thing means new experience. I have to admit that there were also hard, easy, funny modules. For me the most interesting module was giving questions. Because first we met new people and got a chance to know them closer and ask questions and of course I learned a lot of new things from them.
B) The most challenging part of phase 1 was “our brains on media”. Because it was absolutely new experience for me. In spite of I’m good at biology I have never came across terms such as limbic,neocortix,reptilian parts of our brains=)
C) Thanks a lot again for creating a project like that. I would like to get new modules every week. Because sometimes I finish my modules in the first week and I cannot wait till the next week=)
